Africa My Beloved

Sweep the corruption smoke off your sky
Rob not your pockets but the guilt off your sins
Send not bombs of blackmail in disguised gifts
And you'd see the wonderful future they have been hiding

Trade your guns for real happiness
Equip your children with weapons of mass education
Dress your courts with the fair uniform of justice
Dig for gold and bury your differences
Cultivate your love and plan for success harvest
Grow your patience and quench the fire of strife
Eat not before your friend's tearful eyes

Leaders should not employ greed as their driver
Or be scorpions on their thrones
But pray that Africa’s bright vision would never expire
